The objective of this exposure was for us, the medical students, to establish rapport with the barangay officials, health workers, and the community residents. We arrived at the barangay on the last week of March 2022 and met with the barangay captain and the barangay officials. We were also able to greet and meet the health workers assigned in the barangay as they welcomed us warmly. These are the key personnel that will be significant to the activities we would implement and to our stay in the community.
It was also the first time we had set foot in the area. Hence, the team decided to explore. We were able to see and hear directly from them that the barangay has five zones and that the houses are far apart from each other.
We were excited to work with the residents that will be a part of our lives for the next years to come. These experiences in the community will help shape us to be the future doctors we've dreamed to be.
